#30DaysOfCharity – 73) SPANA for the working animals of the world
It’s nearly Christmas time: a spectacular season of festive entertainment and joy. To celebrate we’ve donated to SPANA again this year.
Established in 1923, SPANA’s goal is simple: to improve the welfare of working animals in the world’s poorest communities. Through three key areas – treating, training and teaching – they are inspiring others to act in the best interests of working animals while also providing practical, professional and sustainable solutions today.
Of more than 200 million working animals around the world, sadly only a small fraction have access to SPANA’s lifesaving veterinary care. For the vast majority, an injury or an otherwise treatable illness can be the difference between life and death. And for so many animals, chronic, untreated conditions result in a working life of constant pain. Most communities don’t have access to veterinary care. But even where available, many impoverished owners struggle to afford the feed, veterinary care and humane equipment their animals need.
